I'm a 55 year old Londoner now living in Essex. I have had myasthenia since I was 19, too many years to count! I had a thymectomy in 1977 in the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead and now attend NationalHospital in London once a year. I wasn't able to work or drive for many years but was well enough to go back to work 10 years ago and now work part time and drive and do most everything I want to. I have virtually no myasthenic symptoms and am slowly reducing the amount of medication I take. I have no idea why the myasthenia improved, I just count myself lucky that it did. I now take 7mg prednisolone every other day and no more mestinon at all! It's working for me at the moment, lets pray it stays that way!
