Grandmother Aged 57 South Wales UK. Diagnosed July 05 probably had MG for 5 years previously possibly longer. Went into crisis, spent two weeks in ICU on ventillation, Thymectomy August 05, complete sternotomy, also Parathyroidectomy at same time because of excess calcium production.

Current medication.........

3 x 60mg Mestinon daily
2 x 15mg Propantheline every 6 hrs
1 x 75mg Azathiaprine twice daily



Started prednisolone at 100mg daily when in hospital prior to surgery and have reduced as per my neurologists instructions, finally stopped the Prednisolone at beginning of July 2007 so have been steroid free for 3 years. At present reducing the Mestinon and am now taking 3 x 60mg daily. I still experience tiredness and benefit from a couple of hours sleep mid afternoon. Have recently been experiencing joint pain in my hands, and shoulder, might be related to the steroid meds or could just be the fact that I am getting older and would be experiencing this anyway. I am asymptomatic at the moment with the meds. I keep an open mind about health problems in genera, and do not attribute all general aches and pains and health problems to MG, and have learnt over the last 10/12 years not to get paranoid about it.
