User Profile
I am a 50 something American from Washington State.
Diagnosed with MG in 1991, subsequent thymectomy. Was able to go off all meds and live OK with some weakness, double vision, etc. until March 2009. After stressful time and serious viral infection, relapsed, back on the merry-go-round. Trying to learn again how to deal with active MG.
90 mg mestinon daily more or less as needed. Really resisting more meds. Stubborn. Denial? Doing OK, work is desk so not a lot of problems there but voice becomes gravely so everyone thinks I have a cold. Neck weakness and myo pain always a problem with all the computer work. Sad about my reduced activity level but still laugh a lot and intend to continue to laugh a lot.
I really really really like dark chocolate.
Oct. 2009 Update - I am now daily taking time release Mestinon supplemented with 60 mg mestinon as needed, mostly at night as the other wears off.
I still really really like dark chocolate. And I still laugh a lot.
I should add that I have Fibromyalgia, Hashimotos, osteoarthritis and Raynauds as well. And a fat cat named Frank.
My email is JanShreve at gmail dot com, entered in the usual way, however!
Update Feb. 2010: After some serious collapse episodes, I decided to try diet modifications to see if that helps. I have read about doing that for general health and wanted to see if it could help me avoid more medication. So far, seems to make me feel better and stronger. I know it is not the complete answer but it helps!
