Diagnosed 30/07/08. I live in Shropshire, UK. I was diagnosed 3 months after I took early retirement from the IT industry. Ocular symptoms only - on Mestinon 1 60mg tablet 4 times per day. I vary this dosage, as I don't always feel that I need it, and 4 * 60mg can play havoc with my digestive system... The best compromise, that currently works very well for me, seems to be 30mg in the morning, 60 at lunchtime, 30 at tea time and 60 before I go to bed. From 4th March 2009 Prednisolone added - building up from 20mg every other day to (initially) 40mg every other day - awful - double vision 24/7. Went up to 70 Mg alternate days - things started getting very much better, then a bit worse. Now reducing (currently on 30 Mg alt days) and hoping to maintain the stability and good vision back that I experienced at around 50 Mg on the way up... Also on 1 70Mg Alendronic Acid tablet per week to reduce Calcium loss due to action of the Steriod.
