I'm 38 and have had ocular myasthenia since Dec 2004. Having tried mestinon with little effect, I started taking prednisolone in Oct 08 beginning with 5mg on alternate days and gradually increasing to 45mg every other day, a dose which supressed my symptoms. I'm also taking alendronic acid, calcium/vit D and omeprazole to counter the effects of the steroids. A bone density scan revealed low bone density in both hips (osteoporosis in one) although it is unclear whether this is a direct result of the steroids. I started reducing the prednisolone in Feb 09 and am now down to 12mg EOD.
