Hello fellow MGers, I have recently started on a relatively new product 'Protos' 2 Mg sachets - (strontium ranelate) taken daily for osteoporosis caused by steroids.
I would be interested in anyone who has taken this drug and whether it has any negative effects on MG. I am unable to take Fosamax due to side effects and am concerned that Protos can cause DVT which is an issue with persons who have mg?
Have been enjoying all the tennis at Wimbledon from wintry Melbourne!
Kind regards to all Vivi Vivi

hi vivi i have been taking protos for over 2 years now and have no side affects from it. my calcium count is very good on my bloods that are done 3 weekly.
as long as you take it last thing at night and no other drugs with it like diabex XR as they work against each other. as told by my endocroligst wich i see every 3 months for osto, hiperthoyrdism, and diabetis (from prendizone)
hope this helps

Hello Marjorie
Thanks for your feedback, am encouraged to learn that you have not had any side effects from Protos. I seem to have developed a headache after taking it and believe it is a temporary development once my body has adjusted to the medication.
Where are you on the Gold Coast? I often visit Tugan where my son lives.
Kind regards Vivi

Hi Marjorie
It would be lovely to meet up - I will be visiting more frequently as we are expecting our next grandchild in early January.
fyi I have been taking protos for the past week and so far thankfully not side effects although on the net there have been a few adverse comments eg memory loss and thromosis?
Hope you are travelling well Vivi
