Sam This heat is driving me mad, it's awful. My face is worst affected but my whole body is like a sack of spuds, I'd say my mouth and swallowing are worse than my eyelids but my vision is gradually getting worse. I get regular short bouts of blurry/slight double vision, this seems to be happening on a more constant basis. Do you get any vision problems? This started mildly about a month ago and has gradually got worse, god only know what will happen next. I'm keeping on going to work though, although I have dropped a few hours. I'm fortunate to have a job sat at a desk and I have air con, so i'm probably better there than at home. I wish I had air con at home at the moment. If I were you I would go back to the osteopath, I know numbness in the leg can be caused by lower back problems and even the pins and needles in the arms may be something to do with you trapping a nerve!! That may not show up on a scan. I've had a terrible time with my back over the past few years due to problems with my posture. When I had a hip replacement last year my posture was jilted the other way and upset once again, so inevitibly my back went into complete spasm last November. It was a week before I could walk and even longer to fully recover, I didn't have numbness, just pain but i believe that numbness can be caused by nerve damage. My current GP is great, she took one look at my spine and said it is shaped like a snake (curvature or scoliosis I think is the correct term) so it is most likely that I am trapping nerves when doing too much. You're probably right that the riding accident and car crash injuries have something to do with it, mine is caused by a life of one leg shorter than the other. I've had an xray on my back, but never a scan. The xrays show mild arthritis. I think it is highly likely with your accidents that you are in a similar situation. Another thing, someone told me that a chiropractor was better than an osteopath?? Not sure of the truth in that but I was told that a chiropractor was better qualified. I've only ever been to an osteopath and he was very good so can't really offer an opinion there sorry. My GP has written to a consultant at Oxford, the chairman gave me his details. I'm hoping to hear soon and keeping everything crossed that I will actually get an appointment. I was getting nowhere with the neurologist I'd been seeing previous. In addition my Orthopaedic Consultant wants to remove a plate from my leg in 6 months but won't do it until this is sorted. It might be a long wait, but let's hope not!! Good luck with your appointment. ---------- Tina Gloucestershire UK
