I had heat stroke as a child. sense then I don't sweat. My skin gets cool and clammy, but no water. I've always had to be carefull about heat, I turn red and feel like throwing up. So I run in and cool off. When I was in the hospital having the thymus removed, I called the Nurse because I was Sweating. Water was pouring off me. She got a little nasty with me and said Surley I'd had Hot flashes at my age before. I was 59 at that time. This realy sceared me. Today if I'm up moving I start feeling water on the neck, running down my back and for the first time I've had it on my forhead. Am I going crazy? or is this part of the MG? Thanks Bea

Thanks John, I'll try both. I do ware a lot of cotton because of the Texas heat. It's really been bad lately because even business are turning up thier AC to conserve energy. We went to a movie Sat. thought I'd die of the heat. Think I'll start carring one of the little hand fans around. They look silly, but they do work. Bea

Hi, Bea-- It is very interesting that you say you never sweat. I never did either - I just swelled. Now I notice I get very warm and do sweat a little. I never knew not sweating was the result of heatstroke as a child. I bet that is what may have happened to me. Thanks for solving that mystery. Take care- Bogart

Hi - Cotton vers Synthetic materials Cotton has a disadvantage in sweaty conditions - it absorbs lots and lots of water and so cannot allow the heat of a body to escape from the person, just keeping the body hot and wet. Some synthetic materials allow the heat, and water vapour, from a body to escape so keeping the body dryer and more comfortable. Sports and in particular Yachting clothing manufacturers use this technology to supply clothing that are designed to keep sportsman dry and comfortable, whatever the weather.

I never knew that about fabrics. My big problem is I've found most sports clothing manufacturing don't make bigger cloths. And in regular cloths they run out of the pretty fabric's when they get to a size 14. So I pass on buying. I'll look anyway. Bea
