It’s the Summer Solstice and perhaps some of you are planning to celebrate the wedding of Heaven and Earth along with all the other pagans, witches and Druids at Stonehenge. Or perhaps not. More likely you might, like me, be looking forward to your summer holidays. For the first time in four years I feel well enough to venture abroad and for two weeks in July will be sailing into (for me) uncharted waters of S.E.Iceland, Faeroes, Fair Isle, Viking, N.Utsire, S.Utsire. Whenever I hear the Shipping Forecast it’s always these areas that gale warnings are issued for. So what to do about seasickness? A quick search on the MGA website did not “throw up” any results but a Google search of the web leads me to think that the patches are to be avoided. Their active ingredient is scopolamine, which, I read, can block muscarinic acetylcholine receptors.I will ask my doctor what he recommends and let you know. ---------- Levitas

Hello I went for a cruise this year and I took the pressure bands. I was worried about the side effects of the anti-sickness/travel tablets as I was also advised they may interfere with tablets currently taking. The bands worked really well for me but obviously not for everyone. If there are tablets that could work without any interference I would also be interested to know just in case the bands become not as effective. Take care Suz1

SeaBands work for me. I was skeptical at first, they do like like a gimmick, but I tried them and they worked like a champ without any drugs. -Michael

If you do feel poorly (and this includes with your medication) a tip from the meeting in St Ives this weekend is to take crystalised ginger - it helps with any feeling of nausea. Try drinking ginger beer or ginger ale also. Great meeting in St Ives, sods law that successful meetings are the furthest away (you can't really get much further west) but it did get me away from the traffic and rumpus of Stonehenge - we live about 1.5 miles away!!

Like Albert "We didn't think much of the Ocean : The waves , they was fiddlin' and small". From "The Lion and Albert". Well most of the time. Crossing from the Faroe Islands to Iceland was just a bit rough and we needed the Stugeron pills that the Dr had said were safe to take. In spite of what I think about alternative cures I went along with my wife and wore the "Sea-bands". (How would they do a double blind, placebo controlled test on Sea-bands?) Well either the Stugeron or the Sea-bands must have worked! This was our first proper holiday in nearly 4 years since my relapse (though we did manage a week in Portugal earlier)and I'm certainly no worse for the experience. Levitas ----------
